Olive Ash Tankard

 'Olive Ash' isn't a species of Ash, it's a descriptive term used to describe a rare oddity where the grain pattern and colouration of Ash develops differently to the norm. Olive Ash usually has dark brown stripes alternating with yellowish-white stripes. This is generally regarded as particularly decorative, and most Olive Ash is used for making veneers. It would normally be far too expensive to use for making tankards, but occasionally I find a small piece in a wood merchant's off-cut box, a piece too small and short for most commercial uses, but fine for me since I only want enough for short staves.
