Provenance Coopering specialises in hand-made coopered wooden tankards, made to a traditional design and finished in an alcohol-safe, toy-safe varnish - and yes, you can drink from them. These unique tankards are made in a variety of woods and make ideal gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, Christmas or other special occasions.
Please note that all the tankards are individually hand-made, and will vary in colour and grain pattern, because colour and grain vary enormously, even from one end of a plank to the other. The photographs shown below are general examples only. All the wood used for these tankards is from ethical and FSC-certified sources.

Tankards are sent by Royal Mail's 1st Class Recorded Delivery, which usually takes 1 - 2 days (N.B. - this speed of delivery is what the P.O. aims for, but it is not guaranteed). If you live locally (Derby), personal callers are welcome but please telephone first.

The tankards hold approximately one and one quarter pints (about 750ml). They're made a little larger than the more usual 1-pint size, because beer tends to foam up when poured in a wooden tankard. The tankards have decorative brass hoops and a carved wooden handle.

The description for these is the same as for the Large Tankards shown above, except for the size. The small tankards hold approximately three quarters of a pint, rather than the more usual half pint (as with the large tankards, this allows for the beer to foam up).

Most people like the wooden tankards to have hoops, but some prefer them without hoops, so I make a small range of tankards without hoops. This group includes both large and small tankards
